ECHO of the HOURGLASS

Past & Present

Play co-op from two different computers

Two friends can play Past & Present from different computers and different networks. Open the free browser game, choose Play online, and send the invitation from the game dialog. The creator plays Present; the friend who opens that invitation plays Echo. Neither needs an account or a game installation.

Before you open a room

Each player needs a browser that can run the game, a working internet connection, and keyboard or touch controls. You do not need to share a Wi-Fi network. The game is designed for two roles; there is no public matchmaking or third-player slot.

Keep a voice call open in an app you already use if you want to talk. Voice chat is not built into the game. Short calls such as ‘hold that plate’ and ‘I am across’ help when a bridge depends on the other player staying put.

Create one room and send its invitation

  1. Open Past & Present and choose Play online. Wait for the private-room dialog to show that the invitation is ready.
  2. Use Share invite when your browser offers it, or Copy friend link and paste the link into your conversation.
  3. Your friend opens that exact link in their own browser. They join as Echo; they should not create a second room.
  4. Once the second player connects, the invitation dialog closes and a short countdown starts the game.

Stay together between rooms

Both characters must reach the exit. In an online session Present chooses Continue, and Echo follows into the next room using the same session. You do not need a fresh invitation after every level.

An invitation is temporary, not a permanent saved world. If the room has ended, create a new online room and send its new invitation. If you only lose connection briefly, let the reconnect dialog try to recover before leaving.

Common questions

Do we both need the same browser or language?

No. Each player can use a supported browser and choose English, Turkish, or Arabic. The invitation carries a language choice, which can be changed in the game.

Do I need to install or host a game server?

No. The website connects both browsers to the game's online service. Opening a private room does not require router configuration or a server running on your computer.

Can we swap Present and Echo?

Roles are fixed for a session. To swap, leave the current room and let the other friend create a new online room.
