About the project
A world held between seconds.
Echo of the Hourglass is an independent browser puzzle-platformer built around one central idea: the player may reverse a mistake, but time already spent still has a cost.
The solo journey
You guide Kael through five connected chapters, beginning in the Frozen Village and ending inside the Great Clock. Each chapter develops a different relationship with memory: placing echoes, reversing gravity, binding testimony through stillness, and combining every learned rule in the final chamber.
The simulation uses fixed-step movement and deterministic collision rules. Rewind restores Kael’s recent position and motion, while pendant energy continues moving forward. This makes rewind a puzzle resource rather than an unlimited undo button.
Past & Present co-op
Past & Present is a separate five-room cooperative campaign for two players. Present interacts with the physical world. Echo crosses memory paths. Neither role can complete the route alone because every room asks one player to change what is possible for the other.
Friends can play locally, across two browser tabs, or through a private online room. The public game requires no download and no player account.
Visual and technical direction
The world uses restrained low-poly forms, cold museum lighting, and desaturated stone and pewter. Warm amber is reserved for Kael, living light, and meaningful interactions. Text, controls, and accessibility remain in semantic HTML while Three.js renders the playable world.
